It all depends on the switchgear you are using. Atlas sells a line of switches, (block switches) which not only simplify wiring, but can be screwed right to your control panel. To control my Tortoise switch machines, I use heavy-duty DPDT switches, mounted in rectangular holes along the edge of my layout.

1. Please see http://www.nmra.org/beginner/
2. Be prepared to do over again as you gain experience! Try a little corner and test before adapting a final plan.

Mounting controls?
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, August 21, 2003 9:48 AM
I've just finished nailing down the track in my new layout, and I've been wondering how to mount the controls. I recently visited a train shop, and when I looked at the controls, there were lights and buttons and switches mounted neatly on a nice control board. Although I didn't know what all of em did, I would like something like that for my own layout. Does anyone have ample expirience doing things like this, or some good sites to see?
Thanx, your help is greatly appreciated! [:)]
