And beautiful they were.

Before then the coal trains had 4 or 5 SD40-2s or U33Cs at front and two or three at the rear. Occasionally they had 2 cut in mid train. After the SD70 they always had 3 on the point and 2 at the rear, and the trains are longer.

The BN started painting the new SD70MAC's in the 'executive' paint scheme. Several covered wagons assigned to business trains were also painted in this scheme, After the BNSF merger, additional SD70MAC's arrived in the 'executive' paint scheme, but with 'BNSF' lettering on the hood. After the 'Heritage' paint scheme was developed, the remaining orders were delivered in variations of the H1 or H2 paint scheme.
Originally, the AC units were assigned to coal trains, but as more AC locomotive were delivered, they have been seen in intermodel or merchandise service as well.

Can anyone tell me if the executive coloured units are seen on intermodals, or are they used exclusively on coal drags?

Thanks
