One must appreciate the diversity of the greatest railroad to have spanned the globe. From long distance passenger service to local commuter branches. From waterfront freight operations on the shoreline to coal mining service in the mountains. Autos, butter, cattle, grain, milk, iron, coal, and every type of freight you can think of moved on this line. Home of the 'Water Level Route' and the 20th Century Limited:

New York Central

just my 2 cents.

More like BN has been contaminated by ATSF

No, that misses my point. If you are a BN fan the equivalent statement would be:
BN contaminated by BNSF.

Where's CSX in all this?

In all seriousness, I picked the UP. There's just something about it that seems cool to me. (nevermind the fact that it's one of the biggest railroads in the US, if not the biggest).
Modeling (and railfanning) the CSX mainlines since... ah fudge I forgot! http://myred02.rrpicturearchives.net/ http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=myred02

I see polls are making a comeback[V] They were cool for a while but then 9 out of 10 post were polls. I did post a lot of polls when I was new here but they became annoying. Before this poll i new most peoples favorite roadnames!!!!!!!!!! By the way mine is Maine Central.

I usually don't join in on these "what's your favorite..." topics because they have been done so many times.
But, in this case, I see that the Southern Railway got omited from the poll. So, here's a vote for the Southern.

Since CB&Q, GN and the NP got their own listing, he obviously does not care so much for the Santa Fe portion of the conglomorate. A man with his priorities in order I would say![}:)]

I like how you think Simon!

My favorite is C&NW.
