Im 14 years old and ive been a modelrailroader for about 3 years. ive build a 4X8 layout in HO and am now starting on a new layout which i want to use
DCC on. could you reccomend a system that i should use. i have a medium-sized layout and a limited budget ($250 max). please help me out!!

Prodogy from MRC is a nice easy system to use for the $ you have.

I'm not Dcc but go to http://www.ttx-dcc.com and in the upper right hand search corner enter the system you hare considering for their review.

I would definately suggest the MRC Prodigy system. In my opinion it gives you the most bang for the buck and is far and away the simpliest to learn to operate. They put all the instructions you need to operate it on the back of the handheld controller. The set usually runs for around $125. For this $125 you should have everything you need outside of a DCC decoder and locomotive. It's perfect for someone with a small to medium sized layout. If I am not mistaken, MRC claims their Prodigy system can handle up to eight locomotives at any one time. Even if you don't buy from this website < www.tonysdcc.com > take a look around it as they have lots of information on all the various DCC systems on the market so you can see everything that's out there.

That $125.00 to $150.00 sounds reasonable to an old fart. I have two parallel ovals, each with a MRC 9500 power pack . I can run an powered A-B-B-A and an two F40PH's on one oval and
two-4 8-2's doubled headed and the challenger on the second oval.

Occasionally I throw a block on the steamers to slow down the double headersince they top out at 120MPH necessitating the block. I
The Challenger tops out at 103MPH

Using the above as my standard operations what's my NET GAIN to justify the prodigy cost and it must be user FRIENDLY for Senior old farts.
