I have something called pop up stopper. Its "free" online and stops any and all pop-ups what so ever. I didnt even know this was a problem on this site for that reason. I would suggest everyone get pop up stoppers. If not for this site for other sights that feel the need to pop up random things througout your stay at their site. Plus its free.

I couldn't agree more. This is my first time on the forum and I've already seen that blasted thing about six times -- enough that I'm already sick of it. How about limiting it to just one time per session? Or have it on for a day every year?

It did occur to me to address this to Bergie, however, in my gut I know Andy S within a 99.9% degree of certainty has learnt to hate pop ups at the Layout Design Sig. And you know what, I know Andy won't answer this, except in a vague way - but it might ferment internal discussion at Kalmbach.

For example, I don't expect Andy to write - "Yes, I hate pop ups and I hate the ones at Kalmbach too!" But I know Andy is one of the more active MR staff in forums. So I can appeal to his higher side and say - look, I know you don't like this, we don't like this - and maybe some dialogue will occur. Whether I hear the dialogue is unimportant to me, just as long as the dialogue takes place.

1) Get PanicWare's popup killer program. It eradicates the problem.

2) Erik Bergstrom, not Andy, oversees Trains.com. He goes by Bergie on the forum, so complaints, concerns, compliments, cavilling -- not to mention any folding, spindling, or mutilating -- ought to be directed to Erik. He pops up from time to time on the forum.

Any other modelers out there who use the Internet might what to consider switching to a company that offers this type of program to its subscribers. I don't like billboards, telemarketers, television commercials, junk email or junk postal mail but the fact of the matter is that advertising pays the way for many of the things we enjoy in life. We just have to accept this.

Its no great secret that part of a success of a forum is its long term contributors and frequent contributors. I've been here in this forum under different names, usually forgot the password so I just got another name. The old forum wouldn't let me register as rsn48 (not enough letters and numbers - had to be six in total).

Well, Andy I know you have been and are still active in the Layout Design Sig. I have a question for you. Didn't you develop a hate on for the "small video camera's" pop up that you saw for a million times at the Layout Design Sig? Wouldn't it be safe to say, that if it were the only company selling those small camera's, you wouldn't buy one because you got to hate that pop up (that usually came on for about a year at Layout Design Sig)?

Well for those of us who frequent the MR forum here. How soon do you think it will be before we develop a hate on for the layout design book, the pop up is flogging as we enter the forum? I bet the guy who invented pop ups hates pop ups.

My suggestion is to run a pop ups - if you absolutely have to - for a week or so, then retire it for about 3 or 4 weeks, then bring it back for another short stay. In your face advertising gets offencive.

So if you are some one who is a frequent flier here, that means you have to look at that pop up a couple of times a day, multiply that times 7 days, and multiply that by how many weeks it has been on.
