Speaking as a former brakeman on the PRR/PC and C&O/Chessie I would say the winner would be the old Alcos on the PRR as far as being rough riding..the U boats on the C&O. The best riding was the SD7/9 (PRR/PC) followed by( in my opinion) the GP7/9.The EMD switchers wasn't to bad but rode a little rough.

Norfolk Southern's (ex-Conrail) SD-60I. They were clean, quiet (relatively), and the chairs were much more comfortable than even the brand new Dash-9s. I was a management trainee for NS in Pittsburgh and was required to ride a train at least once a week. (tough duty) I would always try to pick a train with the SD-60M or SD-60I because you never knew how long you would be in that cab. No twelve hour rule for non-union employees. I learned that lesson after being stuck in a C-30-7A for twenty hours.

derailment? what derailment? All reports of derailments are lies. Their are no derailments within a hundreed miles of here.
