Actually, All three of those engines were built and in use on actual railroads. The four truck Shay was built in sizes from 100 tons to 150 tons. The Union Freight railroad in Boston had at least five three truck box cab climax locos and the NYC operated five box cab two truck Shays. I you do a search on the internet you can actually come up with photos of each of them.

Finally, someone who wants to design his own engine. I really think people rely on prototype models than there imagination. I really like your idea, but I haven't got the money to create such engines. Right now I'm trying to create a 4-10-10-4 for my small layout.

The new bachmann three truck shay is great. How about someone kitbashing a couple along with an MDC Climax to produce a 100 ton four truck Shay, A three truck box cab Climax (Union Freight RR) and a two truck box cab Shay (NYC box cab Shay). Great project and three unique locos.
