Yes, when both the house, and the storage area at the club are overflowing, and then a complete fairly large storage unit hasno more space - You have too many locomotives....

I've been selling down my engine collection over the past few years, consolidating and rationalizing my collection, so I might have missed a few that I still have, but from off the top of my head, my roster looks something like:

Life Like Heritage 0-8-0 x4
Life Like Heritage 2-8-4 x7
Athearn Genesis USRA light 2-8-2 x5
BLI USRA heavy 2-8-2 x3

Sometime this year, I plan on adding another 4-8 engines to my roster, mostly Bachmann engines of older prototypes and the upcoming Athearn 4-4-0, as I'm assembling a fleet of older engines for occasional 1915 OP sessions.

The Bunter Ridge has:
3 Alco FA1s (Life Like)
2 Alco FB1s (Life Like)
3 Alco FA2s (Life Like)
2 Alco FB2s (Life Like)
3 EMD E8As (Kato)
2 EMD E8Bs (Kato)
1 Alco PA1/PB1 set (Kato)
2 Alco RS1s (Atlas)
6 Alco RS2s (Kato)
5 Alco RDS4/5 (Atlas)
5 Alco RS11s (Atlas, 1 painted as Alco Demonstrator)
3 Alco RSD12s (Atlas, Kato mechanisms)
3 EMD SD9s (Atlas)
2 Baldwin VO1000s (Atlas)
3 EMD SW9s (Life Like)

Present from other railroads:
2 ATSF EMD FTAs (Intermountain)
2 ATSF EMD FTBs (Intermountain)
1 D&RGW EMD SD7 (Atlas)

Most of the Bunter Ridge locomotives are in their spartan "Undecorated Gray" paint scheme, but will get the newer livery as they get shopped. Some of the FA/FB units may get sold off (3 pairs were bought as projects to upgrade and sell, but who knows) and the RSD12s may get pared off when I consider converting them to DCC. All of the Katos and half of the Atlases are DCC.

Oh, wow. This was asked some time ago, and it took me most of the day to list them. Let's just say that I model Big Steam during the WWII era and my main focus is on locos of the Rio Grande and Southern Pacific and that since I model those specific railroads that my roster is by necessity mostly brass imports that I USE, not just collect.
Anyhow, here's a sort-of summation.
RIO GRANDE
2-8-0--2
2-8-2--2
2-10-2--2
4-6-0--1
4-6-2--1
4-8-2--4
4-8-4--3
2-8-8-2--3
2-8-8-4--2 (borrowed from Missabe for the war effort)
4-6-6-4--3

SOUTHERN PACIFIC
2-8-0--2
2-8-2--2
2-8-4--1(Ex-Boston and Maine)
2-10-2--1
4-8-2--3
4-8-4--2
2-8-8-4--1
4-8-8-2--4

There is also other steam motive power 'borrowed' from such roads as Great Northern, Colorado and Southern, Pennsylvania and Chesapeake and Ohio.
Now if I could only stop purchasing everything in steam that makes me drool, I might stop running out of storage space, LOL!

Again? The answer is always too many to list.
http://www.trains.com/community/forum/topic.asp?page=1&TOPIC_ID=10254
http://www.trains.com/community/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=20620

And then there are just the ones about how many locomotives.
http://www.trains.com/community/forum/topic.asp?page=1&TOPIC_ID=35444
http://www.trains.com/community/forum/topic.asp?page=1&TOPIC_ID=33342
http://www.trains.com/community/forum/topic.asp?page=1&TOPIC_ID=30327
http://www.trains.com/community/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=27673

So I list my most recent aquistitions:
BLI 2-8-2 Missouri Pacific
BLI 2-10-2 Santa Fe
Genesis F3A Southern
Genesis F7A GTS
Genesis F7A GTS (all FxAs are headed for the paint shop) yes I know I said I would never buy another Genesis but for $20 what is a person going to do?

I'm not even sure what my roster is.I have over 20 on my layout right now(It looks like my little people staged a walkout).I have about 40 steamers and 8 or 10 diesels. Some of my stored motive power has only been test run, then put back in the box and stored under the layout. They range from AHM,Mantua, model power, rivirossi, bachman, bowser ,LL,BLI, IHC, and roughly15 or so brass.I know that I should thin out my fleet, but they are all my "favorites"as the 5 I have out either having sound installed or custom painted.I just don't have the time anymore to work on them as I am spending most of my time working on the layout. It IS a lifetime hobby.
By the way....It is a 36 year collection(obsession?)
