Ya Brian, and it's really too bad. TheGP30 they produced 26 years ago was really a nice model, even by todays standards, not too shabby, a great place to start for a full detail job

Lionel is back!!! What's with the exclamation marks? This is really a non event. Really fine model engines are being built in the Pacific rim and China has gotten it's act together. Where is Lionel getting their engines from?
How much do you want to pay for one of these things?

I agree. You ain't going to be seeing me buying one of theirs, unless the price comes down. If the price doesn't lower, Lionel should leave the HO Scale alone and stick with the scales they've worked on for years.

Bryan; We had an extensive discussion about this last week and the week before and I think the general consences is, that LIONEL has already bitten the dust on this. With price tags in the $700.00 range, almost everyone that was on the forum in the last two weeks, has said the same thing, no way, [V][:(][:(][:(]Lionel has really priced themselves right out the HO market and if thier smart, they'll stay out. There is no way they can compete at those prices with KATO, ATLAS, PROTO 1k & 2k, and ATHERN GEN. for quality or anything else for that matter, oh and lets don't leave out BROADWAY LIMITED. All the aforementioned makers are well established, and have good market share. I really think, that if LIONEL persist in this suicide venture, they'll be belly up in six months to a year, or less. Only a very small handfull, maybe 5 or 6 people that responded were favorable, and they probably won the lottery or something. Most people just said thanks but no thanks, too expensive.[V][V][V][V][V]

I personally think so what. They abandoned us once and they are only coming back in to HO to try and cash in on their name with overpriced locos because they think there is a profit to be made. If I wanted a BigBoy I would buy the Riverossi who have supported HO all along.
