Donate them to a train mueseum or rr historical society. You can get a small tax write off and they can get some money for them. Personally I keep mine which go back over fifty years. It's surprising how things I wasn't interested in ten years ago, I go back and look up.

Very funny busgrouch but .... one well known railfan and modeler I know of, now deceased, had a major disagreement with his spouse. Her revenge was to attack his collection of 60,000 color slides with an ice pick .......

My wife didn't go quite that far but her words are law around here and after all, i do practice RRing only with her blessings. Even after 33 years of bliss, I still choose those times when I have the upper hand, carefully before I start pushing buttons and even then I make sure I have an escape route all picked out.Even so she's a great kid.[:)][:)][:)][:)]

I've saved all of my copies of MR. They are stored in printerpaper boxes. Like emeraldisle I've went as far as just keeping articles that I want and put them in document covers. My wife has said that I'm not getting buried, she's going to burn me and all my mags.

I have quite a collection of MRs. Most of the newer ones are in blue binders, with plastic hangers from Walmart. BTW, whatever happened to bound volumes of MR?

The fact is old issues usually sell pretty cheaply at swap meets. I have seen prices as low as 25 cents an issue.
Many people who are serious about selling magazines try to avoid letting anyone cherry pick -- if they have an entire year they want to sell that year in one piece.
Frankly I find enough value in old magazines that I make room for them even at the expense of filling the basement with shelving.

I had the same problem with 10 years of mags, MR, RMC, SHORTLINE, etc. What I did was to go thru all over a 6 month period and removed those articles I wanted to keep and placed the pages in archival plastic sleeves form Office Max or Office Depot. Then I built myself some really nice note books with them. Much less space and I've kept only what I wanted.[:)][:)][:)][:)]Make sure the sleeves and the note books are acid free. Donate to the local library and use for tax write off. They really have no value as I can purchase all I want for $.50 each or 5/$2 at a local store. Sorry, but they aren't comic books.

When I started model railroading in 1989 I purchased all of the back issues of MR that were available. I even bought binders for all the magazines. My issues start with 1973 up to currant issues, and have most of them that were available and not sold out at the time of purchase. My problem is that I would like to get rid of these magazines. Any suggestions? I researched EBAY and discovered that items in print just don't seem to have a value to them.
