P2K SW9/1200 question

Finally figured it out. You press the front part of the cab up, while pushing the entire cab forward to free it from the battery box. I ended up cutting the handrails and the wires to the cab-mounted headlight, unfortunately, but at least the cab's off now.

I bought an SW9/1200, and want to remove the cab from the hood and frame for ease of painting, and so I can replace the crew figures that Life-Like put inside. I probably would've been easier had I bought an undecorated one, but a nice black NYC engine is as close to undec as I'm likely to get. Anyway, if anyone knows how to disassemble the shell, I'd appreciate your help. Thanks.
