Hi Tim,

I went to the Collinsville show this morning and said hi to 2 different guys in red Santa Fe hats, not you of course. Anyway this was one of the better shows we have had in Collinsville. Lots of vendors and some decent prices. I picked up what I was really lookining for HO scale chickens! Anyway, I hope you had a good time and a chance to stop by K10's as well.

Simon,Im very sorry for the misspelling.Im on pain meds for a bad back and thats probably where the problem was. Thanks for the link to the hobby shop, thats one I wasnt aware of.I'll diffently have to pay a visit to them.I have a friend who I work with that spent 20+years in England and married a nice lady from there.I love her sense of humor.Despite my back trouble I'm going to come to the show.I'll have to take it easy though.I'm going Sat. and I'll be wearing a red Santa Fe hat.See ya.

Tim, it is Simon, not Simone (female spelling)! 1966, I was 5 years old, England won the World Cup. Being born and bred in England this is a big deal. You bet I will be at the Collinsville show, it is only 10 minutes from my house. Since you are driving from the West and putting on a few miles why not also make a stop at my favorite train shop http://www.k-10smodeltrains.com/ it is open noon to 5:30 on Saturday and is literally only 10 minutes drive from the Collinsville convention center. If you drop in, tell Ken I sent you. Well worth the visit, and in all honesty you will likely find as many bargains in his store as you will find at the trainshow! Check out his web site and look at the train layout that is at the store!

I think so. If not, all it will take is a little bit of research. Good luck!

going to the train show in Collinsville this weekend??Does Simone1966 mean you where born in 1966 because I was!!Small world.Ill probably go with Accurail, but I wonder which particular model was used by both roads??I guess I could get somthing undecorated of the right era,but that seems boring.Theres a hopper that has Peabody on the side I wonder if both UP and Santa Fe used those??

2 nice things about accurail , they list the build year (and sometimes howlong a car was used) on their website so you can tell if a car is correct for your era , and they have 3 6 and 12 packs of their cars , with different numbers

now if they'd just do a few pre-USRA cars i could buy some [:(]

Tim, if you have not done so already check out the Accurail.com web site. You can look at the 40' box cars and the USRA hoppers and see the build dates for the models. As you will see, many of them are appropriate for the 50's time era. It would be easy to build a nice big roster with Accurail. Several of the Accurail kits have re-numbering decals as well so you can even get different numbers on them.

Train show this weekend, need answer to question before I go.
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, March 17, 2006 2:20 PM
This is basically the same question I asked a few days ago,but maybe someone with the answer will see this.I appreciated the replies I got from the other post, but it turned into which brand was better instead of answering my question.Sorry,I dont want to offend anyone. The question is ,does Accurail or Athearn make a 40foot boxcar or hopper that would have been something that both a UP Big Boy and a Santa Fe freight train would have pulled in the 50's??I need to purchased about 20-30 of something to pull behind my RTR Athearn F7AB and an Athearn Genesis Big Boy(when I get mine).I like the look of pulling alot of the same car.Example;I saw a Big Boy pulling 100 coal hoppers once.COOL.Thanks in advance for any help.
