I would advise buying the big Bowser catalog with its Cary and Cal-Scale and Bowser parts. There are lots of parts out there that do not make the pages of the Walthers catalog. Also, MDC offers parts for its kits.

Please ignore my ignorance since this is my first venture back into MR after a 7 year break [:)]. Ok, first a little background info. I am wanting to model a specific locomotive that I rode on as a kid here in Metamora, Indiana. Its an old Baldwin 2-6-2 built around 1920 that looks like it just got back from the cotton fields down south. For any who haven't seen this locomotive, it has a unique "Rushton" or "Cabbage" stack and a low profile "fat boy" boiler. Also, the cab looks as though its narrow gauge because it looks pretty big for the engine (lower half extends well below the running boards). I recently read an article in an old (1970ish) MR about converting a MDC 2-8-0 old timer kit into a 2-6-2. The only reason this kit sparked my attention is because I have most of it. My first problem is that the boiler has several knicks and dings in it and would most likely be unsuitable. Could it be plausible to just use a piece of brass tubing cut to fit? Also, where would I find unique stacks and cabs for this engine? I have checked the super detailing catalogs and so far, Precision Scale has the Rushton stack I'm looking for but unfortunately it has two odd pipes coming out of the side that would be hard to file off. No one, that I have found, offers a cab similar to what I need. I have pasted a link to some pics of the engine for those that want to see. PLEASE HELP!! [:)]

Thanks for anything in advance,
