The Cedar Branch & Western rebirth (with pics)

After the pain of dismantling my old layout and choosing to dispose of it, I am proud to announce that the new Cedar Branch and Western is well on its way!

The first thing I've done is revamp the train room. Okay, it's a garage...but it is heated and cooled. The big roll up door is sealed and left in place for future occupants to use again. I cleaned out the entire room, removed any and all junk, added fluorescent lights and tried to make the room a fun place to be. [oX)]

The next step was to get my benchwork installed. The benchwork is designed to provide both storage and wiring access. In addition, the parts disassemble for a move to a different home.

The layout plan has been trimmed down from the grandiose one I posted a couple of months earlier. It is has been reworked to fit the 14 x 5 benchwork. Also, the track plan accommodates the sectional build of the benchwork, so it can be taken apart without damage.

And, I'm off and running! The staging yard is down and the wiring is being completed this weekend.

When this portion is completed, a town will rest atop the staging yard.

Thanks to all of you for the inspiration and information you've provided through this forum! More updates to follow. [:P]

Gettin there! I see you have a 44 tonner. What kind of pulling power does that have?
Is it 8 wheel drive and pick up? ( I want to buy one to fix and old Chat Choo Choo I have.)
I guess one can fit one in the tender to use as power.
Thanks

loathar, that's one of the new DCC ready engines. I haven't gotten it broken in yet. So far, it's only made two laps around the track. At the moment, I'm uncertain of how well it'll operate. It is 8 wheel drive and pick up and know it'll do better than those old Tyco motors in the Chattanooga Choo Choo's tender.
