John'
I have built many of the Jaeger loads. Supplied w/ the wrapped wood loads is a roll of small scale banding. It is like a mico version of vinyl electrical tape. Even after assembling all the loads there is quite a bit always left that I use for other purposes.
I don't know if it is available alone, or just buy one of their loads for a bulkhead flat and use the rest.

Chartpak brand trim tape works well for this use, although a little CA where the cut end sits on the rest of the band will help keep it from unravelling. It's black, has a glossy finish, and comes in many widths to accomodate many scales. Art supply stores carry it.

Not sure if tape would stick for any length of time particularly so small a piece. I was thinking of using heavy thread that I use in canvas work. Its black and should bond nicely with CA or similar. I use same thread for telephone wire and it looks prototypical unless you get out the calipers.

What do you guys use for metal banding of loads, lumber, pipe, poles ect.

Thinking of cutting electrical tap on glass in thin strips or even a pin striping tae may work. I have seen banded loads for HO pipe loads that look nice, but a bit too thick, think it was Atherns? ...John
