It has been a while since I had mine apart, but I believe you want to be able to turn the number boards on and off independant of the headlight without bleed over between the two sources of light. You should be able to pull the clear plastic headlight number board assembly out of the cab body. Using a hobby knife you can separate the two, then reinstall them in the cab with a divider between them to block light transfer.

I have a ? have anyone added new lighting to the Proto 2000 SD60M ? I want to but the numberborads and headlight are all connected to each other..I want to add constant lights any suggestions ...
