So many words... so little worthwile information.
I built a mountain on my layout tonight (Loathar declared, trying to steer this topic back to something that has to do with trains) Can't we all get along?[?]

Budliner, you're acting like a very immature child and people are getting really fed up with it. Keep it up and you may well get banned.

Until they review the security tape, then you’re the moron on the news and in the paper. You are charged with inciting a riot; go to trial, then to jail. Become the jailhouse toy. The rest of us go on with our lives. Who won the fight?

I think you will be gone real soon so you better double up on the meds funny guy.

I'VE never been a fan of poll's, so take this as it was intended - with a Salt shaker nearby. The ONLY POLL I ever proposed was a POLL to 'End Polls', but what do you expect from a guy who use to have a Bumper Sticker saying 'HELP STAMP OUT BUMPER STICKERS'?

However, i'm curious WHY they are popular? Is it the youthful badge of non-conformity by being attracted to what eveyone ELSE is doing? I'M TRULY curious.

In reponse to a previous post ... Q & A:

"# "I'm curious about what the others are thinking". - OK but why?
# "I want to know if anyone sees things the same way I do". - how does that help?
# "Unable to strike out on my own I need to see where the pack is running". - and the reason?
# Being such a strident individualist I need to locate the pack and avoid it". - by seeking conformity ???
# Needing a post count infusion I need to repeatedly answer my own poll because I have no good answers for the members who are asking questions try good question's -
# Needing an answer to a specific question, I'd rather post a poll and get a response than expose my need and inability to come up with a solution - why not post a need? I dunno, I have other reasons than those listed above - that's OK

POLLS ARE POPULARITY CONTEST'S:

What do you like's bestest, Eurastus?
X or Y?
Steam or Diesel?
Code 100 or 83?
BNSF or Conrail?
Blondes or Brunette's
I could go on.

NOW How should YOUR preferences affect MINE?
or VICE VERSA? .... SERIOUSLY.

I realize there is a 'COMFORT ZONE there, but we go through Stages. So why not Enjoy the ride.

Edit: THIS is for Chip: 'OTHER'

One thing I did fail to mention. I tend to loose a load of respect for those who seem to keep popping up as the originator of poll threads and me bets me not alone on this. And those who want to argue the point instead of consider the opinions of others on it demonstrate little in the way of maturity, class or people skills....or much in the way of having a life.
We can expect a particular poster to reply any time now and prove my point.

For the last week all you have done here is plug up the forum with useless posts, topics and polls. I'm getting fed up with you and your stupidity. Maybe you need to take a break from here before you wear out your welcome. I'm sure right now you are a little upset with my post but go back and look what you have posted here lately. It is just a waste of space dude. You need to either GROW UP or GET OUT.

We are only expressing our frustration of useless topics and polls In a polite fashion, might I add. Ture, it is your choice whether or not to click on them...but it is AWFUL HARD when the whole front page is filled up with this! I did a quick count prior to posting this, and IIRC, you personally had about 6 topics on the front page alone.

Also, that portrait is not in the least bit funny. Is it a work of yours?

I'm just thinking out loud. How many of the recent polls posted on the forum were designed to actually do just that. 50%? 25%?

Using a poll to gathering information to be used is one thing. (And I have no problem with that - EVEN if it's been asked several times before.) However, posting a poll just for the sake of posting "clogs" the forum and makes it more difficult to wade through the fluff in order to find the more pertinent questions and information - ESPECIALLY for some of the newbies - i.e. those who are truly seeking to get that information to help them get started or established in our hobby. How many sincere questions for help have "fallen through the cracks" so-to-speak because they have been whisked off of page 1 way too quickly?

As I've stated before, let's be judicious with our questions, inquiries, and polls. If you need to ask a question - ask it! But don't supply filler if you don't have to. Leave that for the landfill.

We're all given two ears and one mouth. Maybe we should all use that as our model...?

I wi***here was a feature on Internet forums like there is when following Usenet newsgroups - the oldest form of this type of communication. You read newsgroups on your own computer, downloading them from your Internet provider.

With most newsreader programs such as Outlook Express, you have the option of ignoring posts by individuals. Click on one of their posts and select "Ignore" and you never see their posts again. You can also set the program to ignore words - such as POLLS - so you never see them either. That would be a great feature to have on forums such as this, as I know many who would be placed on my IGNORE list.

But that's not possible, so I guess I can only dream!

Maybe I voted on one or gave an opinion somewhere and forgot, but I don't think I have ever voted or responded ona poll around here ever. I get tired of seeing tehm but if some folks get theri jollies out of them, then whatever. It would be good to perhaps move them to theri own forum. I personally feel tehy are a total waste and don't even open a thread concerning a poll, easty to avoid but it does get a little annoying to see all teh BS that people start polls over.
The use of other or not isn't a concern to me since I never particiapte in them

This "useless poll" turned out to be actually quite usefull! As you can see there were a number for and a number against poll with a few on the fence. Not quite so useless is it. The idea for polls is to gather info. Good, bad, or indifferent and take that info and do something with it. In this case some like the polls and some don't with a few who don;t mind or care either way. One suggestion was to put a poll in a POLLS forum. This is good info and how else would one get that info? Gee let me see, ASK!

Now take THAT to th polls![2c][:-,][:-^]
