I receive my monthly sale flyer from Walthers and have for several years. I haven't seen the reference "Terminal Hobby Shop" for well over a year and believe they have dropped that term.

My orders from Walthers have tapered off quite a bit now that my layouts are about as saturated as layouts can get. I don't know what their "cut off" is, but I have gone several months with no orders and still get the sale flyers. .

I still get it every month. It always comes on the exact same day as my MR.

I still get one once a month. They usually show up about the same time MR does. I've only order from it once in the two years I've gotten it.

Should have explained myself better.

I used to get it once a month as well. Walthers policy now is that after sending you "so many" flyers.............if you don't order anything from Walthers..............the flyers will stop coming to your home.

You can call them and verify this! [;)]

I received a catalog just before Christmas after I had ordered a few things in early Dec. I was looking to buy a grain elevator off their website which was marked as being on sale but then I seen it at my LHS for serveral dollars less than the sale price (and no shipping fee) so I got it there. I think for now I will use the website to find what I like and just order it through my LHS if they dont already have it.

I received the January sales flier. A couple of years ago while I was in Milwaukee, I stopped in at Walthers and bought some stuff, which is probably why I still get their flier.

Interesting, though, their "sale" prices are still higher than the every day prices over at my local LHS.

Most shops I deal with will honor the sale pricing from the Walthers catalog, I have no LHS, I drive to Buffalo NY now and then to get to some good shops there. 100 miles one way.[:O]

Got mine yesterday.

On the Walthers website, if you go to Advanced Search, there is a box to check to see only sale items. You can filter it by scale, if you want.

I have never ordered directly from Walthers.

However, I still get these flyers. I look through them for 15 minutes, then chuck em.

Walthers will mail you the "Flyer" as long as you order item(s) directly from Walthers. That's what a customer service rep told me when I called.

I was dissappointed since my hobby shop honors the discount prices. All a customer had to do was bring in the flyer, select the item on sale and show the sales clerk the sale price.

If I have to order directly from Walthers, the shipping and handling is going to eat into the money saved had I just gone to my LHS.

I received one in the mail today- has the new engine service facility on the cover which, I think, is dated January.

Yes, I still receive it although I have never ordered anything from it as their prices are higher than Trainworld and other hobby shops.

I get the brochure and it has a list of participating hobbie shops in it. I have only ordered once (my wife actually) and it keeps coming. I got the last one just before Christmas.

Well, it's cool Internettrrains has the brochure, alas as you stated it's about 6 months old (July 2005). Since they clearly scanned in a copy, I can't really blame them for not keeping current (scanning can be a big PITA). Give them A for effort.

Conford, I'm surprized that your hobby shop keeps the sales brochure available - it is after all potential cutting into their business.

I have not been getting one in the mail lately (let my MR sub lapse but have renewed) but I pick it up at the LHS when I see it. I try to buy as much at the LHS as I can justify, even if it means paying retail.

Cheers

Does everyone (else) still get the Walthers seasonal sale brochure/flyter
Posted by chutton01 on Wednesday, January 4, 2006 3:36 PM
Periodically a multi-page Walthers (Terminal Hobby) sales promotion brochure (mini-catalog, more or less) would appear in the mail (perhaps twice in what seemed vaguely defined seasons) . And every so often, my needs and ability to coincide with the offers in this brochure, and I would call the nice people at the given telephone number and place an order (usually when free shipping was offered over a given order total). I thought I was ordering enough to be retained on this mini-catalog mailing list, but one day the promotions just stopped appearing.
Even worse, I cannot find any current sales promotion on the web, even after stopping at the 'Walthers Model Railroad Mall' (no links seemed promising there) or googling 'Terminal Hobby Shop' (no URLs).
So... Is anyone still getting these sales mini-catalogs in the mail? Is there an on-line version? And even if I get back on the mailing list, any idea how often you need to order to stay on it (I can see a decent order once or twice a year, but sorry, can't afford 8 or 10 times a year).
