Locomotive maintenance facility

I am interested in modeling -- scratchbuilding and/or kitbashing -- a diesel locomotive heavy maintenance facility with a superdetailed interior in HO scale. I know there is probably a large overhead crane, a lube/inspection pit, some lathes/mills for machining wheels and repairing engine blocks....beyond that I am having trouble finding much prototype info about what other operations go on at these facilities and the layout of them. Anybody know of any good articles, websites, contacts? Thanks
