N scale spares
Posted by Teditor on Sunday, May 11, 2003 9:02 PM
Can anyone help as to where to get spare parts for Life-Like N scale locos.

I am in need of a couple of trucks for GP18's and SD7's as well as a front engine unit (or just the front driver set) for a 2-8-8-2. I have suffered melt downs of these components (no fault of the locos, I might add) and am desperate for replacement parts.

Life-Like do not respond to my emails and state on their site that they don't deal with international orders. Dealers I have emailed in the States say they do not deal with Life-Like for spares.

These are great locos, but everything wears out sooner or later for some reason or other.

I would suggest that you consider purchasing new GP18's & SD7's, as they tend to sell new for under $25.00 (check ebay or other on-line stores). You can either put the new units to use or cannibalize them. I recently purchased a GP20 (another real nice LL unit) for 24.95 shipped!

I don't know what to say about the 2-8-8-2, as that is another story (they are much more pricier).
