only wish I had the money for G scale, as I think I could get my parents to loan me a corner of the back yard, but I don't have money. Shots like these are the ones that make me sure I am going to have at least a small garden railroad to suppliment my HO scale layout when I get my own place though, as I'd love to run in the snow. And with the snowstorms we occasionally get up here, 5-10 inches, I could have a lot of fun plowing the stuff.

[sigh]Some day...... Thanks much for the inspiration......

STOP! These pictures will push me over the edge! My wife will kick me out when I tell her I'm switching to G scale. Well she'll say "that sounds great honey" Then when she finds out that I have plans on annexing the garden....Well, you know the rest of the story.

Anyways, the pictures are TOO COOL!

I totally understand. I share these photos to encourage the next generation of model railroaders. You have so much to look foward to in this hobby. Someday you will own your own house with your own basement or back yard and you'll love it.[^]

Is it REAL? or Just 1:29 scale?

Chris my good friend that is 1:29 (G scale) and they are USA Trains (that is the name of the company) and Aristo-Craft Trains here are their sites
www.usatrains.com
www.aristocraft.com
Take a look, you'll find that they are alittle pricy but still some good trains.

I hope I can get a Garden RR when I get a place with a backyard. I can run all sorts of snow removal equipment, just to keep the drifts clear. [:P]

The one thing about modeling outdoors is that their is sometimes only a small window of opertunity to get the photo. Just like 1:1 railfaning.
plus, it sounds nuts, but the colder the snow, the more realistic it plows and looks.
Plus this is the first snow in a long while with NO ice before the snow on the rails.
The price we pay to plow, REAL snow.

Yeah, that picture of the Mallet is a super shot. Well done! If I had the funds, I'd consider going into live steam in that scale (does it happen?), and get clouds of vapour rising from the loco realtime in a winter photo like that one.

Nice work, Marty, and in so little time!!

Those trains are G scale, which are made to withstand the elements. Those 2 engines are SD45s, buit by aristocraft. There are several companies.

Here are some sites.

These are great trains, and I started in 2003, and have now been hooked on this scale. I have O gauge as well. I just love the larger scales[:D]

By the way Marty, great photos. I love the pic of the mallet the most though.

Well, you should be very glad the camera didn't fall off while on the bridge...that would have been quite a tumble!!!

I'm so tired of winter though, and it hasn't even began. Sun down early means no more biking to the LHS[:(][soapbox][banghead][sigh]

One of these days I'll get myself a garden railroad, and one of the things I want to get is either a Jordan Spreader or a Rotary for winter time. I always thought it would be awesome to watch.

Thanks much for the pictures!!
