BJ;
As Dave says, I do not think fabricating one would be that difficult. I believe that this is just a flat piece with holes in it for screws and the gear.
I would use a piece of .040" to .060" thick plastic. Easy to work with, and robust enough for the job.

I remember the old Mantua mogul. You used to see a fair number of them at swap meets but I myself have not seen one for years.
I am wondering how difficult it would be to fabricate such a part out of brass, perhaps using the techniques in the old Mel Thornburg MR articles, or maybe the Odegaard brass 2-8-2 article in Model Railroader.

Be assured that if you are talking about Mantua's early post-war "8-Ball Mogul", constructed of sheet brass and Zamac castings, Model Power is never going to offer replacement parts for that engine. As Charles suggests, locating a junker example at some train meet or perhaps on eBay is your only chance.

You might be able to pick up a beater for parts if there are train shows in your area.

Looking for a retainer plate,part #M0005. I have check with Modelpower and no parts till late next year if then.The old part # that came with the original Mantua instructions was 301.
This is for a early (50's) 2/6/0 MOGUL.
Thank you, B.J Huff. bjhuff@grics.net
