Decoder Install help
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, April 18, 2003 11:26 PM
I have an NCE D13SR "Powerhouse" decoder I have installed on an Athearn GP35 with a re-built NW Short Lines can motor. I followed the decoder instructions to the letter, but can't get it to run (I know the can motor runs because I ran that before installing the decoder). I am trying to test the motor on my track using temporary straight fixed DC (which the reference guide said I could do). I don't have a DCC power system yet.

I can't get it to run and am afraid I may have shorted out the decoder. Not sure if the black wire (for left power pickup) is installed correctly, although I followed suggestions from MR and a dozen saved articles on DCC. Also, do I have to program this board? If so, just how do I do that?

Thanks.

John;

This one of those that I doubt anyone could answer without seeing the locomotive, and trying various tests with it.

Nigel,

I finally got ahold of NCE and talked to them. They knew exactly what I was trying to do and I think I have it solved now. Thanks for the message.
