We use the term puddle jumper. Or just call it that piece of @#$&! in front of the tower.

Indeed, it is one of many slang terms for a yard switcher, not all of which are printable in a public forum.

I've also heard it refered to Model RR Operators that like to work the yards.

It's a generic term for yard locomotives, used by crews at least.
