Microscale makes Diesel data decal sheets. They include builder's plates.
I think that there are more than one, so check out their online catalog to
make sure you get what you are looking for. Hope this helps.

Locomotive Renumbering - Part 2
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, October 20, 2005 5:26 AM
My original post was at http://www.trains.com/community/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=46508 but my current followup was too long to post as a reply.

I have completed one engine with somewhat of a success.

After removing the old numbers as mentioned in my earlier post, I used Woodland Scenics dry transfer number set MG730 and applied the numbers on the cab.

I am not totally convinced my work is perfection, but I figure that I will get better as time goes on. After all this is my very first attempt at customizing.

When it came time for the number boards, the technique changed.

I dis-assembled the locomotive and removed the number boards from the shell. I then brush painted them Testors gloss black with a number 0 brush. After the paint had dried, I used Microscale decal set 87-855 and applied the numbers.

I am please at the outcome on my first custom job and as I assemble my "fleet" I believe I will get better.

As you look at the picture of the three locomotives below, the two on the left side are stock Proto 2000 models, and the one on the right is my newly finished locomotive.

I do have a question though... does any one know where I can get a builder plate decal?
