Will it work for me? MRC Prodigy DCC MRCU1500

Hi all,
I need your experience with this system. I am setting up a new layout with my two boys. I bought this system for $100 and want to make sure it will do what we want it to do. I am new to HO and DCC. Here are my requirements (unless you guys know of other things I am not thinking of...)
1) I will only be buying new DCC equiped locos and maybe some DCC Ready.
2) I intend to only run loco with sound. Already purchased a Broadway limited with QSI sound.
3) I will never run more than 3 locos at a time.
4) I may want to operate switches or other accessories via DCC in the future.
My questions:
1) Are there any compatibility issues with locos/sound with this system?
2) Will it do everything I stated above?
3) Other than the number of locos and 2 vs 4 digit addressing, what is better about the prodigy advanced system FOR MY NEEDS :)
Thank you in advance for you help!
