This week it was back to adding to the circus/ammusement park area of my O layout. Built 2 kiddie rides: planes/boats and cars/motorcycles. Used motors from Micro-Tec, which are great at 2 1/4 RPM, so they need no gear set-ups. Yesterday started kitbashing a string of HO concession stands to "look right" with O.
Earlier in the week, made a ocean beach area for a corner of my small 2x4 N layout complete with lighthouse and lots of people. If I tried this on my O layout, I'd only be able to do a tiny pond!
It's now 5am and I'll be leaving for the York, PA train show(largest O/S show in the world) in an hour. Can you tell I'm retired? Joe

MOVING!!!!!

Uncle Sam wants my house, so hopefully I'll get enough to buy me a new basement. In the mean time....it's time to box and dismantle.

I don't know if you could call what I'm doing a project, but I guess it is in a way. I'm saving my extra mad money to buy a Spectrum Union Pacific 2-8-0 Consolidation.
Otherwise - not...

Two Proto1K C-Liners into CP Maroon-and-Gray. Two evenings spent so far decalling them. I also am thinking of removing the built-in circuit board and just wiring everything directly, to leave more space for the DSX decoders.

Finishing the railroad room - which used to be a garage. Primer painting starts tonight, if all goes according to plan.

right now i'm putting in a series of train detection circuits (and they're all integrated circuits) for an ABS signaling system..it's going to take at least a month to wire it all together...one thing i did find out is that my next train detection circuit is going to strictly be one of those old "Twin-T" types that operate a few pairs of relays that was introduced by Linn Westcott...all these optiisolators, AND, and NAND gates are driving me crazy....how complicated does this really have to be?...chuck

My latest idea that may become a project is to put a Cannon & Co. high short hood kit on a P2K GP60 and paint it in the Southern Tuxedo scheme.

Maybe it's a lame idea (I know the GP60 didn't appear until after the SOU/NW merger) but I'd still like to see what it would look like.

I managed to get the roof off my walther's "Gold Line" series caboose. It is a very delicate operation as the roof line and sides are tight. I'm going to replace the thick windows with clear styrene.

Take care,

Today I got the 2 old Shinohara 3-way turnouts installed (not permanently yet) with Peco machines. These needed some relays to make reliable electrical contact beyond the points, so those are all wired in, too. I started the control panel for the yard, too.

When I get chased out of the family room by teenage girl tunes and TV, I retreat to the basement, where I've begun the interior and exterior detailing of my roundhouse. I've also started scratch-building some bumpers out of Evergreen beams.

Let's see....

I guess I should replace the 6' of track I ceremoniously ripped out earlier this evening. Paint three, no make that four locos, a caboose and several peices of rolling stock, fini***he freight yard and then get on with my life!

Weathering an Athearn RTR PS 5277 Railbox, along with an Athearn (Blue-Box) Railbox Railbox. Yup, that's what they call it: Railbox Box Car Railbox. I'm weathering it as well.

Well there's a couple of them on the work bench. One being a E-crane,for the wharf of the steel mill. The second is a CN SW1200RS Sweep,I thought instead of a boring regular SW1200 running amock ,though out the mill ,the sweep would look cooler. Last but not least,in RMC last month, they had a CN ingot flat car build. I firmly think thats enough cookies out of the cookie jar for now........Patrick

I'll also be adding details and weathering to an unfinished Stewart FT set. There are other unfinished stuff, but don't want to overload.

Take care,

I have a couple of KATY F Units that I am going to finish up. There is some scenery to do and then I'll start weathering some buildings.

I'm working on installing roads to the central valley of my layout. One road cuts up hill through some rock to the Lighthouse. I blasted the rock out last week, and started covering the foam with plaster. It's slow sleding as I wait for the plaster to dry after each coat. This weekend I'll probably get a sealer coat on the flat areas in the valley, and with any luck get the first layer of ashphalt installed and smoothed out.

Great pictures Eddie, I first thought they were photo's of the real thing.
I am working on four modules at the present time. Two are for my coal mine, and the other two will form a long (for me) stretch of track running alongside a river with wooded hills around. The scene was inspired by a picture I saw in the model railroader, november 1987.(The Iron Wood RR). I don't know if I will manage to do as well but I'll try.
When I get it done I'll post some pictures. Thanks for sharing your photo's with us an inspiration for many I think.

Great set up Eddie. I tried to access your website, but it said that it was under construction. Lookin forward to seeing it. I am also a MoPac nut. Grew up not too far from the Jenks Building in NLR.

I am working on a GP50 (3512) that I have already made sliding cab windows, hand made coupler lift bars, added etched brass steps, plow, MU hoses, real chain between the handrails above the couplers, and several other things. I am going to make the small air deflectors that are in front and behind the side cab windows.

Next I will move on to my 3 SD40-2s and 3 SD40-2c s. I am also building a "what if fleet" with AC4400s and a DD40AX with MoPac coloring and decals. I like to think of what might have been if MoPac had stayed around and maybe even bought out UP.

Well, that 2' by 3' section that will hold the Swift meat packing plant is still not installed. While I had had the open space, I cut in a 'wye' turnout and stripped the 2' by 6' engine terminal area(I am really getting into the 'destruction' mode). I had the area stripped of scenery/track/roadbed and belt sanded. After supper I laid out the new trackage, and at least got all of the roadbed laid. Track and turntable project to follow this weekend(maybe). I have a region/division meet to attend Saturday. Maybe I will get something done on Sunday(Football has been bad for Viking fans...).
