Don't feel too bad. Try being laid off with a wife, 2 children and a mortgage payment. It's happened to me. That's why I started my own business. . .

Take care,

Well, getting paid in trains isn't all that bad!! And, if you do end up getting called in by Mr. P. try to be available so he knows howdependable you are, even on short notice. Makes you look good. I'm sure you will find another position with another firm, doing something. We all have these temporary situations. Keep interviewing and talking up your situation with everyone. Maybe you'll mention it to someone who needs a good worker.[8D]

Sorry to hear about the job. Oh well. It's not the end of the world, and there are other hobby shops out there that would probably more than welcome you with your experience. Good luck to you with what ever you do...

Adam, since you are in that area, if you hang out there as much as I did, and bugged Mr. Purkey for a job for months, maybe you'll get one.

That's the way I got mine.[swg][(-D]

Scott,
As one chapter draws to a close another begins. It sounds like you left on good terms especially if you are welcome back at the holidays, but change is lifes only constant if you are to mature and progress. Continued good luck at BOSE - J.R.

Sorry to hear that, but you are young enough to have plenty more jobs in your future. Let's hope that some of them are even better than this one was.

Chin up, Scott. I'm sure you did fine work there, and you will find good work elsewhere before long. Sorry to hear that your employ has come to an end. And, there is always trains!!!

I'm sure you think these are dark days indeed, but you may find in the long run that this will allow even better opportunities to knock at your door. Good luck...

Sad News for Me...

It wasn't even two whole years ago...I posted one of my first posts, "I don't mean to brag." I was so excited to have a job a train store, but that has almost come to an end...[:(]

I found out this weekend that I have been taken off the payroll, so officially, I no longer work at Purkey's Toy Trains. After we moved to Boonsboro, it was pretty obvious that I wouldn't have a job with Mr. P. much longer. And now, I am not truely with his company. I found out I haven't been for a few weeks...

But not everything is amiss. I can work there, but that will be rare and unscheduled after the New Year. And I get paid in trains.[:D] I got a box of mixed N scale equipment this weekend, including a Trix 0-6-0 and 2-10-0 DECAPOD, a Bachmann 0-6-0, two ALCo PAs, an RS-3, and an F7. They need a little work, but I've already got the steamers running fairly well.[;)]

So...I cannot truely say I work at the train store anymore, now it's Bose.[:(]/[:D]
