I used one in a Bowser Mountain kit. It is a very smooth motor and has plenty of power. My only problem is that I had to grind out a LARGE portion of the wieght to get it to fit. The instructions said nothing about this. After my grinding I am happy with the outcome and will buy another one for my Tyco Mikado. Same boiler as a Mantua.

For Mantua or Bowser remotoring: do not pass Go, do not collect $200. Head to Alliance Loco Works for the "Helix Humper" remotoring kits:

These things work like a dream, and turn the cruddy performance of a Pittman-equiped metal steamer into a modern, smooth running engine. And they're a lot easier than trying to add a can and gearbox to a Mantua yourself (I've done both: adding a NWSL can motor and gear tower took me about four hour's worth of work. The HH took 15 minutes)

If you REALLY want to do it yourself, Micro Mark sells a few nice motors, and NWSL makes all sorts of gear towers and remotoring supplies (including motors, which aren't always in stock). Both are online.
