Fortunately, Saudi Arabia isn't known for it's tunnel clearance issues. I would venture to guess that there is a some sort of particle seperator or enhanced filtering to keep sand out of the intakes. Since the filter is moved up from the sides of the long hood up to the top, the stack needed to be extended up beyond the intakes to keep exhaust from fouling the intake air.
