HO Narrow Gauge
Posted by adnelson on Friday, February 14, 2003 4:00 PM
OK, I am a little confused. Which HO narrow gauge scale will fit on N scale track. I think it is HOn30, but am not sure.
Thanks,
Tony

Hello Tony,

You're right, N scale track has the same, or almost so, width as 30"-gauge track in HO scale.

There were protoytpe 30"-gauge railroads, by the way, mostly in Central and South America, as well as Germany, but two were in California.

Regards,

Thanks Paul, I guess then that HOn3 would be a tad bigger at 36" and would not fit N gauge track.

Hi.If you type HOn30 into the Yahoo search engine you should get some results. There are a few HOn 30 modelers out there. One of the difficulties is finding a N scale steam loco that runs good enough.

Hello Tony,

That's right. N standard gauge track is 9mm wide (hence the name for "N" scale), while HOn3 is 10.5mm.
