Reminds me of public skating at the ice rink [:D]

It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.

That's a neat setup - just one caution though - make sure you turn locos through 180 degrees at least once during the running in process to ensure that all the bearings, etc are fully bedded in (otherwise you may find you have a loco that runs superbly on left hand curves but makes weird noises on right handers!). I have a big loop of Hornby sectional track that I use for this, though it's neither fixed nor DCC at the moment.

I did a siilar thing but with a single circle. Be sure to reverse the loco direction to reverse as well as clockwise to counter clockwise rom time to time.

DCC running in track

I needed to run in some DCC locos but my layout is end-to-end, so I built this test track from 3 circles of set track. it is hooked up to the NCE with a 37 pin umbilical lead - only 4 pins are used, 2 for the track and 2 for the programme track.

I can now leave the locos to go round and round for as long as I like, usually in half hourly stretches.
