Hi Greg,

Since the 2056 was only made for sets and separate sale in 1952, it is a little harder to find and valued a little higher. One in Excellent condition would probably go for about $300. Of course in very good condition it would be significantly less. As far as the set goes, each car and its condition would add separate value to the set. Having the original set box and its condition would also value to the set. If you need value of the cars, post the info and I will get back to you. The Greenberg and TM guides can provide a source for value and you can also check internet sources that sell trains as well as E-Bay.

Hi. Bought Premium Hudson set 2000 [6-21988]for Xmas, then read alot and three years later put ad in paper for trains, accessories, layouts, etc.
Got call to look at big box of stuff and value.
Went to look and sorted three types; lionel,marx and HO Bachmann and tyco [boxes]. Told him what appeared to be 1952 small hudson 2056 and set including 90 watt transformer and extra box car [x3464 AT&SF]. All appear to be VG[ being conservative.
Any Ideas/ opinions on fair value for seller and buyer? One small piece broken from tender rear step and obvious play but very sound over all.
Checked out on tracks, every thing worked , lots of smoke and old whistle. Was in basement in box for 5 years by curent owner who inherited[ sp]. Squeaked at first and had to give a little 'back and forth motion and it came back to life.
Any thoughts would be appreciated. I read alot and now would like to start quest on collecting and may be layout in future. Retired last fall, and trains in winter is fun...like model airplanes in winter in the 60's[ monogram].Thanks Greg.
