Although this was not the first Electric Railroad, the Cleveland, Painesville, and Eastern was an electric trolley line and also did freight delivery. It was chartered 25 April 1895. It’s headquarters were in Willoughby, Ohio, along with the power station for it. The original power station, trains station and car repair station are still in downtown Willoughby.

So the answer " None of the Above" is Correct

Even as toy trains, Lionel was started in 1900, So the answer " None of the Above" is Correct

Maybe you should know the answer before posting your poll and have the correct one on the list [B)]

I dont recall the year.

Hey, I think I was the only one to vote for 1904? I dunno, it was one of the ones that only got one vote.

Just my opinion, I thought the question was a bit too generic. I was somewhat confused by the word "released." Did you mean when the first one was made? Or did you mean when a locomotive company first made one publically available to railroads? Are we talking just the US, or other places?

Wasn't the first electric locomotive ever built in 1834 by Robert Davidson? Didn't it run off of galvanic cells or something?

First, they had to have electricity to their homes. I would say 1912 in New York City.

A long time ago in a city far far away... And that's the best I can do without looking it up.
I can tell you one thing though, the first electric train wasn't a locomotive, it was a gondola. (I watch Discovery channel too you know...)

Ah, dissention already. That's why I come here, day after day. Very few of us know the correct answer, so the rest of us learn.

I would hazard a guess that the first toy trains manufactured in N. America that ran on electricity were released near 1907.

I think you need to change the question to "When were Lionel trains released". There were several pre-Lionel makers in Europe.

I agree with Palallin, the actual year that the first electric train was released is not even in the list.

None of the above
