There have been only a few articles on detailing the BQ's. You should still be able to find some of these old issues floating around.

Due to safety concerns, they changed the locomotives to "B" units in their late years, meaning they operated second or lower in a consist.

Why were the windows plated/painted over?

There's the link for BQ pictures. Detail-wise, I'd stick with new handrails, plow(if necessary), M.U. hoses, trainline hoses, M.U. cable, coupler cut bar, grab irons, lift rings, and a new horn. I will post later my technique for mounting the BQ to an Atlas chassis.

For the chassis, I couldn't find one specifically for the B23 or BQ23s, but here's a link to their website.

For the details, you may be able to find parts from Details West, or Detail Assosiates at walthers.com
