N scale parts for European prototype
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, September 3, 2005 11:00 AM
I have an old Arnold Rapido electric diesel and and lost one, yes only one, of the round bumpers.

Would anyone know of any place that sells these?

The mounting hold is still there so all I would have to do is pop it in.

I realize this may sound a little silly because it is such a small item but it just seems to ruin the look.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.[:)]

These can be tricky to get hold of - I speak as someone who spent several months trying to get hold of a pair of bufferbeams for a Minitrix loco (eventually I gave up and bought a pair of Fleischmann ones - they offer the same loco and parts are easier to get hold of, they fitted perfectly). Have you considered using a small nail filed to shape as a replacement? I've done this in the past with HO models and it doesn't look too shabby from normal viewing distances, just keep filing and checking it against one of the surviving original buffers. When done, paint it to match the others and fit it. Beware of splitting the buffer housing - you may have to file the point of the nail to make it fit. Hope this is of help!
