Scott, there's a GSMTS train show in Timonium October 8 & 9. You may be able find what you need there. It's a great show and the October show is probably the best attended. I'll be there!

Scott,

I got just the thing for you! I just got two of these from Model Power. It's a 4-6-2 chassis (with gears) from Minitrix. It cost me a whole 8 bucks apiece! These are brand new parts and they come with no motor or body. so thats up to you to get. But the price is definately right!

Just go to the Model Power web site and I think I found it in the clearance section.

You can then go to Ebay and buy an old Minitrix 4-6-2 or a Minitrix 2-10-0 body (they are the same body) and it will fit right on, or you can make or adapt your own.

Then drop in your favorite motor and you're off!

See if that will fit the bill!

Happy hunting! [8D]

Edit; Here's some info on it from their web site;

Minitrix 4-6-2 PACIFIC CHASSIS -- N SCALE
Item No. 41-2001-04
$8.00

Matt, those would be perfect, but yes, they are expensive. About $66 to $81 US dollars. That's really out of my price range. The shipping would kill me alone.

I would go to a show, but I don't know when the next time I get the chance will be. But chances are, I'll need a used one.

So let's add another question, if not just a chassis, does anyone know where I can get a cheap used N scale steamer other than eBay or a train show?

You might want to take a look at these:

One caveat though - in their old pre-Bachmann days Graham Farish were terrible. They've reportedly improved since (the problems were usually with poor build quality and lack of quality control, both of which Bachmann have fixed). The prices are also pretty high - you may still find that buying a used loco and removing the bodywork is a better idea. Hope this is of use!

I've been searching for a part needed for a project I want to try, but just can't find anything. I've been cruising eBay for fair 0-6-0s or 2-6-2s, but the prices went above what I thought they were actualy worth. Then the other night, I saw the drive for an old Atlas (?) 2-8-4. It did not have the boiler, cab, et cetera, it was just the wheels, motor, pistons and weight. I looked at that and thought it would be perfect! But, the price soon exceeded my budget being an old Atlas.[V]

Which brings me to my question. Does anyone make an N scale steam chassis, with just the wheels and rods, motor, and weight? Six or eight drivers would be preferred, ten may be better.[:p]

For reference purposes only, something like this; http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5994929079&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1

Any input or information would be welcomed. I cannot reveal any information about my project, it is a secret.[;)]
