I too own Alps 1000 MD and make decals using Laserprint decal paper I also find it prints more to proper size than my 7100Canon which ptints slightly under size according to screensize. Also need good Vector graphics progam to print very small decals ie tare weights etc on wagons

There's a support group for Alps Printer users where you can ask all kinds of questions. Here the link.

You will probably have to join. There's no charge just like this list. The printers are no longer made but factory support is still available as well as supplies.

I have an ALPS MD-1000 and make a lot of decals.
Be prepared to spend some time to get things right, these printers do have some limitations such as pale colours like yellow, light blue etc, but white, gold, silver and solid colours are brilliant. The pale hues can be overcome with a few tricky techniques.
I have developed a few ways of using this printer that work for me after many frustrating mistakes through trial and error and I can't stress enough that time and patience is a definite virtue.
I have had no trouble getting supplies here in Aussie land (and hope it stays that way)don't know what the status of the machines are as far as production and support go, I have been fortunate so far with mine.
You must treat these printers like a baby, nurture them, keep them clean and be gentle, they are not a commercial printer but can produce commercial quality printing if you desire to work with them patiently.

Double check on the manufactuerer first. I believe they stopped making them.Hence you maybe getting an unsuporrted product. I was looking at one and found the cartrages were not always in stock.
If anyone does know the status I would be interestedas these where really good printers.
