Here's some 15" gauge stuff near me. I've been on it a few times. http://www.rsme.org/

Kids particularly like to ride in the cattle car. They also have two smaller gauge live steam lines, plus an O scale layout that is almost a museum of the history of O scale model railroading. These guys have been around a LONG time.

No, but a quick trip to the magazine index and searching on the fellow's name should find it. I would believ e late 60's/early 70's.

Somewhere in an old MR is an article on the original owner and builder of those. Although I thought he was making a Big Boy, not a 2-8-8-2.
