Here I be in all my shining glory !
Myself on the left with one of my all time favorite boyhood idols, famous test pilot Scott Crossfield who flew the X-15 rocketplane and the D552 to twice the speed of sound, becoming the fastest man alive at the time and the first pilot to fly twice the speed of sound. Sadly he was lost in an aircraft accident in April 2006.Scott Crossfield had a great sense of humor, and was a real "down to earth guy" and easy to talk to, and very friendly. He was test pilot Chuck Yeager's competitor and alter ego. They often "needled" one another, and Scott when asked a question about Chuck Yeager, would always answer "Who?"
"Chuck Yeager?" ,"Oh, you mean Charlie!"
Yeager hated to be called "Charlie!" LOL!!!It's the way Scott Crossfield kept score with Chuck Yeager.
For those not familiar with aviation, the X-15 was a "hypersonic aircraft -spacecraft that flew into and out of space routinely in the early to late 1960's, setting the altitude and speed record of 267,000 feet, and 4,520 miles per hour.
Space Ship One recently broke the altitude record, but the speed record still stands.
The research program for the X-15 paved the way and led to the development of the Space Shuttle.Without the X-15 , the Space Shuttle could never have gotten off the ground. The X-15 research aircraft (3) made 199 flights total combined.Today the surviving X-15 is on display in the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum.Imagine flying in the region of Mach 3 to Mach 6+ !!!!
The picture was taken at the Oshkosh air show in 2005.Scott Crossfield was one of aviations greatest pilots!
He is still sadly missed in the aviation community.

Ok, this isn't as good of a photo as the CNW one, but it does show me and my favorite railway.
that was a fun day
Your friendly neighborhood CNW fan.
Aw, why not. It sure is nice to see who is at the other end.
Yeah, Indian. There are plenty of us in the hobby, believe it or not. It's tough to be an Indian railfan in the US though. Back at the beginning of this thread, Antonio had mentioned that he might appear to be a terrorist. Well, his situation can't come close to the possible mix-ups with a similar skin color to those of Middle Eastern descent. On the other hand, it seems that it only throws off regular civilians seeing railfans at the side of the bridge; the police never have a problem when they check in.

Yeah, I believe it! Those lightning stripes did have a tendency to wander all over the system from time to time. Thanks for nailing that down.

Heres me...... It was taken a few months ago. The weathering table behind me looks MUCH cleaner than it does now. Its a huge wreck, and the sad thing is. I don't wanna clean it, cause I know where everything is.
