Walthes Jordan Spreader

I just got a Walthers Jordan Spreader kit for Christmas. Most of the kit has gone together without any problems. However, I'm having a problem with the couplers. When I try to mount Kadees on it, they don't want to swing very well. Could I just remove the Walther's boxes, and replace them with Kadees? Also, will I need to enlarge the slot in the front plow?
