MRC Power Packs w/ Sound how good or bad ?

I don't know about that particular model, but I have two MRC power packs (Controlmaster X?) from the late 70's and they are still doing fine by me.

How good or bad is the sound on the older MRC Power Packs w/ sound IE the 7000 series etc. Does the Sound vary with the throttle. Thanks, Dave
