Disemboweling a MRC Sound Startion 312 (eck!)
Posted by DavidPease on Saturday, December 7, 2002 4:52 PM
I have a MRC Sound Station 312, this system sounds great but doesn't seem well designed to integrate in to a layout. It doesn't even have modular plugs. I was considering disassembling the unit so I could mount the speakers, (not their casing) into my layout table. I also, plan on rerunning the connecting wire from the sound control unit to the speaks. Has anyone done this before? or I'm I just insane!

You're not insane--but isn't it easier to trade in your existing system for a new one with the remote speakers?

New one? This is a new one. I didn't know MRC made a sound station with remote speakers! I still would need to mount the speakers in front of the layout and I am referring to the speaker part only not any casing. Thanks for you help.

Depending on your soldering skill it should be fairl easy to add a connector onto the back so that you can have a nice unit that doesn't look like it's been hacked to bits.

lol, I hope it doesn't look like that. What I am trying to do is move the speakers to the front of the layout, this is a small N gauge layout, where they would be hidden from view. They would be mounted inside the front facade. I just would like to know if anyone has done this before, and what problems I might run into. Thanks David

What I need here is someone here who has disassemble a Sound Station and intergated into the their layout. The idea here is to make the sound system invisable. Please do not reply if you have not done this. I just need to know what to expect. Thanks.
