That's the stuff. I have replaced several of the spring wires that came with my Tortys with it to improve their performance. It works.

Thanks for the information, I had checked at the True Value Hardware store and they could get .025" Music wire in 3 foot lengths. But I wasn't sure this was the same thing a spring wire. David

It's available in almost all hobby and craft shops. It's called music wire or piano wire.

Tortoise Switch Machine
Posted by DavidPease on Friday, December 6, 2002 12:14 AM
I am going to be using Tortoise slow Motion switch Machines on my N scale layout. The wire that comes with the switch is designed to be no more than an 1 inch from under the turnout. With cork road bed, 1" foamboard, and 1/8" hardboard am over the limit of the included wire. The instructions says to subsitute a .025" spring wire if you need a longer length. But no one seem to even know what spring wire is. Does anyone know where I can obtain this wire, or a suitable substitute? Thanks!
