Jim- Thanks for the reply and the information. I paid a visit to my local hobby shop the other day and found a nice set of bumpers and a set of wheel stops. They look real good and add realism to the layout.
Thanks again-Bob

Bob, I've used scrap brass rail in some sidings on my layout. I've had good luck soldering the pieces together in an "H" shape. I also use the Walthers track bumpers in areas like my freight yard. You could also stack and glue pre-cut HO scale ties for a track bumper. I used one on a siding that ran down hill towards the edge of my layout to keep cars from flying of the layout.

Is there any rule of thumb as to what bumpers should
look like? I built my own but I am not happy with them. I was thinking of building my own but I am not sure of the proper design and what material I should use to build them. I was thinking of using scrap brass rail but found it hard to work with. Any ideas? Are there any drawings available? Or should I just buy ready made ones and save myself some time? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Bob
