Terry, your issue isn't the problem one. Your power districts probably aren't configured exactly right as far as delay time and you booster is shutting down, which naturally kills power to ALL zones. The "QSi Problem" is that with multiple locos on the track, after such an incident, NONE will come back up, because as the booster attempts to reapply power the large capacitor in the QSI power supply appears as a short and the booster just trips right out again. If yours actually come back to life without removing one or more of them from the rails, then you aren't having that problem - yet. Maybe once you have 4 or 5 QSI locos it will be a problem.

I bought one of the first BLI Hudsons when they came out. Never had a problem with it. When the trade in program first came out I debated on wether to turn it in or not. I am not much of a technical train guy so all the added improvements didn't mean much to me. Well about a month ago during one of my senior moments it ran off the track and feel to the floor. It landed on a cardboard storage box so it didn't get damaged. It still worked fine but the next day I mailed it in for the replacement.. The only thing I notice differant is the QSI sound. I now have three QSI loco's and when I run them all at the same time even when they are in differant Power subdistricts they all seem to be sensitive to abrupt changes in each other. If one hangs up on a turnout all will shut down and start back up again. Even if they are as I said in differant sub-districts. I use Digitrax and I have read that it has been documented as being a problem. All the non sound loco;s on my layout (in other sub-districts) are not effected. So anyway I am very happy with my shiney new Hudson. The sound problem aside it is my favorite loco of all and I run the heck out of it. Also it comes with a set of traction wheels and several extra rubber traction tires if you want to install them. I haven't yet because I have no idea how to take the Loco apart.

Personally, I don't think the "improvements" made to it are worth the cost.

Be sure you properly lubricate your engine -- BLI and other brands that are made in China come out of the factories with no lubrication. Check your documentation for the locations that need to be lubricated. This may solve your noise problem.

I saw a post somewhere to the effect that the best possible lubricant for model mechanisms is Dexron III Automatic Transmission Fluid, so that is what we use at our club now. A bottle of this will last you several lifetimes.

I bought my BLI hudson when it first came out,and have already sent it back once for repair. It had just quit running and they indicated that they replaced the frame and motor. It is now very noisey in reverse, but I did'nt have the heart to return it.I'm thinking about thier trade-in program, but will I get a engine that is $99.00 better?
