I know. I know that there are no SD75MAC's but I swear that this Unit says SD75MAC.
I just want to find a good way to get rid of the AC. Thanks for all your help.

According to what I've heard, Athearn Geneis made the SD70, SD70M, SD70I, SD75M, SD75I and SD70MAC in HO. Kato also made HO SD70MACs.

SD75Ms were built for the ATSF, and went to the BNSF. CN got SD70Is and SD75Is, and Ontario Northland Rail got SD75Is. CSX, Conrail, BN, and BNSF got SD70MACs. UP, CSX, NS, and BNSF got SD70Ms. Conrail got standard cab SD70s built to NS specifications before it was absorbed.

So as far as I know, Allan, there are no SD75MACs.

That's weird. There aren't even any SD75MACs. Sounds like a manufacturers goof.

Erik Bergestrom did a good article in MR a while back on removing factory apllied locomotive lettering. It might be online by now. Maybe someone else can tell you exactly what issue that article's in.

The SD 75M was a Santa Fe engine and with DC traction motors and was dressed in 'war bonnet' red on the Santa Fe.

[The SD70-MAC was built for the BN for coal hauling with AC traction motor's and had 'Executive' cream and green color's prior to the merger.

Both engine's received 'BNSF' lettering added to their original colors, and then were later painted into the 'Heritage' Pumpkin's.

ATHEARN GENESIS made SD-75M, SD-70I. and SD-70MAC's.
KATO made SD-70MAC's

To specifically answer your question: No.The BNSF did not own any SD-75MAC'S, but neither did the AT&SF, nor anyone else, that I know of.

I'm sure the headlight and front door placement on the Santa Fe 'M"s were different, if nothing else, which would be hard to imagine since it was to my knowledge exclusively Sant Fe, and the 'M's stood for 'modified'.

I have an HO Scale Athearn BNSF SD75M but athearn Modeled it as an SD75MAC BNSF 8213. Because BNSF has never owned any SD75M"AC"'s.
Question? How can I carefully remove the "AC" without damaging the Locomotive? Thanks.
