Hard to tell, but possibly the Leslie S3 series.
If you intend to install sound in the locomotive, Soundtraxx has the S3 horn/ 2nd Generation EMD sound available in its line of decoders.

From the picture on rr-fallenflags.org (http://rr-fallenflags.org/mrl/mrl250adt.jpg), I'd say definately a 3-chime with two facing forward and the middle facing back. As for brand of horn I'm not really qualified to say.

Ross,
Amazing that I've looked at so many photos and none are a close up of the cab roof!
The best I can tell is that BN EMD six axle units generally used 3 chimers
(2 horns facing forward and one facing rearward). "My guess" is Leslie, but I don't want to be firm on that as it's hard to tell.
From what I've seen before, Leslie's in general, tend to be longer in length than the stubbier looking Nathans. The horns in the photos I looked at "seem" to have the longer trumpets, but again the horns being black on black cab roofs makes this a bit of a guessing game.
If I do run into a good photo, I'll post it here.

I am in the process of dressing up a HO scale MRL SD40-2XR #250, bought from BN some time ago. I was wondering if anyone knows what the correct horn is on this unit. I have looked all over, asked my local hobby shop, & asked friends about this and know body seems to know. I need to know how many chimes, if it’s a Nathan, Leslie, Wabco, or something else. I also am looking for it designation K, M, E, S, P etc. on this horn. If any one knows of the part number (brass or plastic) from the Walthers catalog I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks,
Ross
