Something to look forward to... The August 2005 issue of
Model Railroader
(shipping to subscribers in late June, on sale at hobby shops July 12) is slated to have a story on a walkthrough lift bridge.

i needed a section to span a 56" space that is at the entrance to my family room. there was no room for a swing out or lift up. so i had to make it a lift out. since it is out more than in place i had to find a place to store it. i built two shelf brackets and i hang the section on the shelf under part of the layout. i made it light with 1/4" plywood and three layers of 1" foam carved into a valley with five atlas plate girder bridges spanning the valley. there is also the beginnings of curves at each end of it as it would normally have been an end module.
