Bachmann N Scale TGV
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, May 7, 2005 8:48 AM
Wondering if anyone can help? I have just purchased on Ebay a second hand n scale TGV with close coupled units. Trouble is the instruction leaflet is long gone and I am not sure how to join the cars without some force. Does anyone have a copy they can let me have, or instruction on how to join them without damage?

Would be much appreciated.

Hello Dave, and let me be the first to welcome you to the forum.

I use to own the very same train that you're talking about.
As far as I can remember, to join the cars you just snap the bottom end part of the car end into the slot on the lower part of the bogies (what you're calling coupled units).
The top ends of the cars are unsupported.

Good luck to you.

Thanks for the reply and the welcome, moved over here from the UK several months ago so need to learn some new terminology.

That is pretty much what I thought, I was just a little reluctant to force them as it is a tight fit.

Much appreciated

Hello and welcome Dave,

I tried to find my set and was unable to locate same. I did find a couple of cars which were not assembled and it looks like the suggestion from Trainluver is correct. That said I tried to snap the bottoms into place and found the same issue you describe, very difficult. I, like you, didn't force it but think that has to be the way to put them together.

I've got one of those sets - the weights fitted on the intermediate trucks can move slightly to allow you to clip the cars together. The curved "lip" on the car body is designed to sit in the semi-circular track on the truck moulding - mine take little or no effort to join together. Hope this is of help!
